To prevent the spread of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Nevada County by developing a comprehensive HIV prevention program that targets high risk behaviors and offers effective risk assessment counseling, testing and follow-up services. Provides HIV counseling, testing and harm reduction services for persons at risk for HIV disease, Partner Counseling and Referral Services for individuals living with HIV disease, and ther sex and or needle-sharing partners.Provides support to reachers in implementing mandated HIV/AIDS Education through Positively Speaking classroom presenters, helping eliminate violence and harmful attitudes such as hate, homophobia and intolerance in the classroom and on school campus. Provides support services to gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth and their families. Provides on-going HIV/HCV education, counseling and testing services for the correctional officers, inmates and parolees of Nevada County Juvenile Hall and the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
HIV/AIDS Surveillance To collect, record and maintain data regarding the incidence and prevalence of HIV/AIDS cases in the county. To provide outreach and educational services to health care providers regarding the various reporting requirements, legislative changes and new procedures.
