Plumas County

Located in northeastern California, where the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges meet, Plumas County has a total population of 20,350 people. With only eight people per square mile, this frontier area contains over a million acres of national forest land. Plumas County Public Health Agency serves as the fiscal and administrative agent for the Five County HIV Prevention Project and HIV/AIDS Care & Treatment Programs. Counties participating in these regional programs include Lassen , Modoc , Sierra , Siskiyou , and Plumas .

Program Description:
HIV Education and Prevention services are provided by Outreach Staff to high risk populations at the Plumas County Jail, Drug Diversion Class and other community groups. Staff collaborate with community members and agencies to meet the unique cultural needs of rural residents, including social/geographic isolation, concerns about disclosure and harassment
