Program Description:
This program provides AIDS education and information for persons participating in high risk activities, the general public, and health and social services providers. It offers emotional and practical support for people with AIDS and people with AIDS-related complex. A hotline, HIV testing, and individual counseling are available. The target populations for this program are gay and bisexual men with special emphasis on men of color, injection drug users and their sexual and needle sharing partner, and sex industry workers. The DOPH provides education and prevention to the target population using trained street based outreach workers. The use of street outreach workers allows for the intervention to be provided in high risk areas.
