Tuolumne County

 

A rural county situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, 130 miles east of San Francisco . Home to Yosemite National Park , Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, Columbia State Park , and many other outdoor recreational activities. Population is roughly 55,000, primarily Caucasian. Seventy seven percent of Tuolumne County 's 2,234 square miles is public land. Elevations range from 300 feet in the southwest woodlands to over 12,000 feet at the eastern summit, Sonora Pass. The Public Health Department works in collaboration with Sierra Health Services to provide HIV testing, AIDS Drug Assistance Program, viral load testing, Ryan White case management, MediCal Waiver Program, prevention outreach to at risk populations, youth peer education project, voice mail information line for gay/lesbian/bi-services and organizations, and youth drop-in center.

Program Description:
This program provides HIV education and prevention to the community at large and targeted outreach to at risk youth, substance users, and people of color. Also provides training for Health and Human Service staff in key agencies serving targeted high risk populations.
